About the Event

On January 26, 2025, the Next Steps Neurodiversity Expo took place in the Exhibit Building at the Boulder County Fairgrounds in Longmont. This free community event brought together families, professionals, and advocates to explore supports, connect with organizations, and celebrate neurodiversity.

A major highlight of the day was the keynote presentation, Great Minds Are Not All the Same, delivered by Dr. Temple Grandin. Dr. Grandin is a professor, author, and internationally recognized advocate whose work has transformed public understanding of sensory processing and cognitive differences. Following her talk, she hosted an open book signing where attendees had the opportunity to meet her and purchase signed copies of her books provided by Boulder Book Store.

The Expo featured a welcoming and accessible environment where attendees could connect with local and national service providers offering mental health support, educational programs, therapeutic services, social connection, sensory products, adult supports, and community resources. Hundreds of visitors participated throughout the day, making this one of the most well attended events on the annual Expo calendar.

To make the event even more engaging, the Expo featured character actors, face painting for children, and a dedicated sensory break area that provided a calm and quiet space for anyone who needed it.
