About the Event
On July 27, 2024, the YMCA in Lafayette hosted the Next Steps Neurodiversity Expo, a free community event dedicated to celebrating neurodiversity and supporting individuals of all ages with autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and other developmental differences. Families, professionals, and advocates came together to connect with providers and access essential resources designed to improve daily life for neurodivergent individuals.
With more than 45 vendors from Lafayette and the surrounding communities and approximately 250 attendees, the Expo offered a wide range of supports including mental health care, speech therapy, occupational therapy, educational programs, adult support groups, and employment assistance. The event created a welcoming space for community members to explore options, ask questions, and discover tools for support across the lifespan.
Thank You to Our Sponsors and Vendors
This event was made possible through the generous support of our sponsors, Karuna Care Services and the YMCA of Northern Colorado. Their commitment to the neurodivergent community ensured attendees had access to comprehensive information on diagnostic services, mental health care, life coaching, advocacy, and other essential supports.
Vendors represented a mix of diagnosing providers, early intervention programs, educational organizations, mentorship services, and employment support groups. Attendees explored therapy options, vocational training programs, adaptive technology, and a variety of services that empower individuals to navigate everyday challenges with confidence.
To create an even more welcoming environment, the Expo also included character actors, face painting for children, and a designated sensory break area.
A Lasting Impact
The Next Steps Neurodiversity Expo in Lafayette highlighted the importance of accessible, community-based resources for neurodivergent individuals and their families. With 250 attendees and meaningful interactions across all vendor booths, participants left with new connections, practical tools, and a clearer understanding of available supports.
We extend our sincere thanks to Karuna Care Services, the YMCA of Northern Colorado, and every vendor and attendee who helped make this event impactful. Together, we strengthened a more inclusive community where neurodivergent individuals can continue to thrive.
